Dambulla Cave Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also known as the Dambulla Golden Temple. In the middle of the nation, there lies a big, isolated cave temple. Five caverns that make up the temple contain paintings and sculptures of the Buddha. The walls and ceilings are decorated with elaborate paintings and sculptures that reflect Buddhist mythology and tales from the Buddha's earlier incarnations. One of the most magnificent cave temples in the world, the temple is believed to have been built in the first century BC.

One of the most notable features of the fortress is the frescoes that adorn the western face of the rock. These frescoes depict beautiful women in various poses and are considered to be some of the finest examples of ancient Sri Lankan art. The fortress also includes a number of gardens and water features, including a mirror wall that was once polished to a high sheen. Sigiriya Fortress is one of Sri Lanka's most popular tourist attractions, and it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This decent museum has a fine diorama of the site, providing an excellent overview and explaining Sigiriya's cultural importance beyond the obvious natural beauty.
