The archaeological site of Cañada de la Virgen is located just 25 kilometers West of San Miguel de Allende. Occupied between 540 and 1050 a.d., it is perched upon a small mesa surrounded by canyons and is made up of four patio/pyramid complexes, an ancient artificial pond and a ceremonial causeway covering the 16 hectares that is now government property. On this tour, you will get to explore this great site accompanied by a knowledgeable Coyote Canyon Adventures guide.

The day begins with a nice breakfast buffet to prepare for the needed energy for the days activities. After that it will be water activities all day. We start the tour with the warm pools that have been etched onto the mountain side, later proceeding down to the turquoise thermal river for a relaxing lunch along its banks. After lunch, we will jump in to the warm waters of the river before transitioning to the glorious waterfalls and caves. Before entering the caves, we will admire the view of the waterfalls that guard the natural caves we will be exploring. In the caves we will use our lamps to walk through the warm waters extruding from within, explore the interior waterfalls, and observe the origin point of the waters that give Tolantongo it's name. Tolantongo, meaning "place of warm moving water," will prove to give you an experience in Mexico unlike any other. (River and cave exploration are contingent on good weather in days prior to allow for an optimal experience).

Also there will be oportunities for those who whish to sing and participate with percussive instruments after which we will walk along a nature path, into side streets on the outskirts of the town then continue strolling through part of artisan's market. The day will culminate in bohemian style enjoying a late lunch of gourmet food, drinks good coversation and more music I'll play for you from Mexico and beyond! I sing in Spanish, french and English. Isabel is incredibly passionate about pre-Hispanic cooking - in addition to learning about the culture and cuisine, you'll learn about the ancient milpa technique of farming (aka the three sisters method of growing food)!
