The tour begins at the Museo Nacional del Prado, one of the most important paintings in the world and an essential reference for understanding the evolution of European art between the 16th and 19th centuries. During this first part, the visitor delves into the history of the Spanish monarchy and its role as a great patron, which allowed to assemble an exceptional collection based on the personal taste of kings and queens. The visit is structured around a carefully chosen selection of masterpieces that allow you to interpret the great moments of Western art. Iconic paintings such as Las Meninas de Velázquez, key to understanding modern painting, the enigmatic atmospheres of El Bosco, and the emotional intensity of Goya, whose work marks the transition to the contemporary world, are analyzed. The experience continues in the Reina Sofia Museum, dedicated to contemporary art and conceived as the natural counterpoint to the Prado. Here the visitor makes the leap into the 20th century, exploring how artists responded to a world marked by industrialization, avant-garde and war conflicts. The centrepiece of the visit is Pablo Picasso’s Guernica, one of the most influential works of universal art. Through his analysis issues such as the artist’s commitment, the symbolic language of the avant-garde and the impact of the Spanish Civil War on artistic creation are addressed. The tour is completed with a selection of works by Dalí, Miró and other representatives of modern art, allowing us to understand the break with academic tradition and the emergence of new forms of expression, more free, experimental and deeply linked to social reality.
