James’s artistic path is anything but conventional. Beginning with body painting and later collaborating with Universal Studios Japan, his fascination with fluid, organic lines naturally evolved into washi lamp art. His designs reject rigid geometry — no straight lines, only gentle curves inspired by movement and light.
He works with exceptional materials, including rare mulberry-fiber paper and Mino Washi, a historically significant paper from Gifu Prefecture recognized for its cultural value.
