Exploration of the Phuket Elephant Care Sanctuary reveals an idyllic location where the elephants live in a replication of their natural habitat. The reserve features a lush green forest area with a large natural lake. After a transfer in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan and upon arrival at the sanctuary, we are served beverages and light snacks. This is followed by an overview of the responsible eco-tourism approaches employed in the sanctuary. Our hands-on activities begin as we feed the elephants fresh fruit. As they enjoy their treats, our guide will share unique stories about the jumbos, many of whom have been rescued from working lives.

Next, we help prepare the elephants for a spa treatment. We learn about the healing benefits of the special spa mud used to soothe wounds and skin irritations. After this treatment, we rinse the animals off with a gentle rain shower, helping to keep their skin healthy. To complete the experience, we take part in a fun, creative activity of painting a small magnetic elephant to take home, along with a souvenir keychain. Our excursion concludes with a serving of fresh tropical fruit, ahead of our return transfer to the hotel.
