After watching two short introductory films, you’ll visit selected caves with a guide and take time to admire the colorful murals and sculptures inside. With photography not allowed, the experience encourages you to slow down and fully appreciate the details and atmosphere of this remarkable site. During the visit, travelers may also choose to explore additional special caves for a deeper experience. This is an optional activity and tickets can be purchased onsite.

Travelers will visit White Horse Pagoda, a historic Buddhist monument dating back to the 4th century. Built to commemorate a white horse that carried Buddhist scriptures along the Silk Road, the pagoda reflects Dunhuang’s early Buddhist history. Travelers will visit Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring, a unique desert oasis surrounded by rolling sand dunes. Guests can walk on the dunes, enjoy views of the crescent-shaped lake, and take their time exploring the desert landscape. Optional activities such as camel riding or ATV experiences may be available at the scenic area for travelers who wish to participate.
