It once thrived as a coal-mining town and even held the record for the world’s highest population density. Its nickname comes from the fact that, from certain angles, it looks just like a battleship.
We’ll take you to the best photo spot of this island, which was also used as a filming location for the James Bond movie 007. From between the twin rocks known as Meoto-iwa (Couple Rocks), which stand close together as if leaning on each other, you can capture a perfect view of Gunkanjima.
