Near Cantwell, stop at a local café where guests may purchase coffee, snacks, or lunch to enjoy later in the day before beginning the remote Denali Highway. This marks the transition from Alaska's highway system into one of the state's most scenic and lightly traveled roads.

Denali Highway
Spend the heart of the day exploring the legendary Denali Highway, one of Alaska's most scenic wilderness roads. Travel through sweeping tundra, glacial valleys, mountain passes, lakes, rivers, and vast stretches of undeveloped country far from the typical visitor route.
Throughout the day, make frequent scenic stops for photography, wildlife viewing opportunities, and short walks, including panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Alaska Range, glacial landscapes, and elevated tundra terrain. Depending on conditions, guests may also have opportunities to walk short distances along scenic ridges, eskers, and viewpoints to experience the landscape on foot.
Lunch is enjoyed in the Tangle Lakes area, surrounded by lakes, tundra, and mountain scenery before continuing east toward Paxson.

At the eastern end of the Denali Highway, reconnect with the Richardson Highway and continue north through the Alaska Range foothills. The surrounding landscape transitions from open tundra and lakes to broad valleys shaped by glaciers and rivers.
