Step into the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world's largest archaeological museum, standing within sight of the Pyramids. Your journey begins in the Grand Hall, where a colossal statue of Ramses II welcomes you, then rises along the Grand Staircase, lined with royal statues and sarcophagi and framing a breathtaking view of the plateau. Twelve main galleries trace Egypt's story from its predynastic beginnings to the golden age of the New Kingdom, while the Tutankhamun Galleries reunite all 5,000-plus treasures from the boy king's tomb for the first time since its discovery in 1922 — the solid gold mask, the nested coffins, the gilded shrines, chariots and jewellery. The solar boat of King Khufu and the Hanging Obelisk complete the experience.
