The W. E. B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture is one of Ghana’s most important historical and cultural landmarks.the renowned American historian, sociologist, civil rights activist, and Pan-Africanist.
Du Bois moved to Ghana in 1961 at the invitation of Kwame Nkrumah to work on the Encyclopedia Africana project. He spent the final years of his life in Ghana and became a Ghanaian citizen before his death in 1963.

Built in 1661 by the Danes on the Gulf of Guinea, the castle served multiple roles over the centuries:
