As a popular saying goes among Chinese tourists, “Tours to Xi’an have nothing to see but tombs”. Yes, countless ancient tombs and mausoleums of emperors, royal family members and the high ranking peoples are scattered everywhere in Xi’an and its surrounding area. Both on-the-ground or underground museums are also built nearby some of the most famous emperors’ mausoleums. Different with Pharaoh’s pyramids, people can not enter into these mausoleums to see what’s what inside, but visitors can go into those museums to immerse themselves in the rich historical facts and to see those fascinating relics.
The Qianling Museum is a significant cultural institution located at the foot of the Qianling Mausoleum in Shaanxi Province, China. It is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the historical artifacts and archaeological findings from the Tang Dynasty, particularly those related to Emperor Gaozong of Tang and Empress Wu Zetian, who are buried together in the nearby Qianling Tomb.
For those interested in Tang Dynasty history, Qianling Museum is a must-visit, blending archaeology, art, and unsolved historical mysteries.

Tombeau de l'empereur Tang Gaozong (Qianling)
The Qianling Mausoleum is the joint burial site of Emperor Gaozong of Tang and his wife, Empress Wu Zetian, located on Mount Liang in Qian County, Shaanxi Province, China. It is one of the most significant imperial tombs of the Tang Dynasty and a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
Constructed during the Tang Dynasty, it is the only known imperial mausoleum shared by two rulers, one of whom was China’s only female emperor, Wu Zetian.
Qianling stands as a “masterpiece of Tang Dynasty funerary art” and a testament to the political and cultural achievements of the era.
