- Angkor Wat Sunrise: We begin with a pre-dawn departure (4.30 to 4.40 am depending on the time of year) from your hotel for sunrise outside Angkor Wat. Enter the great temple in darkness from the little-visited eastern side, and creep along hoary cloistered corridors past the longest stretch of bas-relief carvings in the world. We end our tour at Angkor with breakfast outside the temple (take away, from your hotel), and a short rest.
- Ta Prohm Temple: One of the most atmospheric of all temples in Angkor. Once home to 2,740 monks, Ta Prohm today looks much as it did in the early 1850s.

Porte Sud d'Angkor Thom
The Angkor Thom South Gate is the best-preserved of the five main entrances to the ancient city of Angkor Thom, built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. It features a famous causeway lined with sculptures of 54 gods (devas) on the left and 54 demons (asuras) on the right, pulling on the tail of a Naga (serpent) as part of the "Churning of the Ocean" myth. The causeway crosses a moat, leading to a large, ornate stone tower capped by three face-towers, similar to the famous Bayon Temple, symbolizing the link between the mortal world and the divine.

Temple du Bayon
At the heart of Angkor Thom is the 12th-century Bayon, the mesmerising, if slightly mind-bending, state temple of Jayavarman VII. It epitomises the creative genius and inflated ego of Cambodia’s most celebrated king. Its 54 Gothic towers are decorated with 216 gargantuan smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara, and it is adorned with 1.2km of extraordinary bas-reliefs incorporating more than 11,000 figures.

Ta Prohm
Ta Prohm is up there with Angkor Wat and Bayon temple as one of the most visited temples in the Angkor Park. There are many reasons for it’s popularity, but the biggest reason is probably that is was used as the backdrop for the filming of the Lara Croft Movie – Tomb Raider.
The jungle is literally growing through the middle of the temple which also adds intrigue and wonder to this amazing site. Ta Prohm is on most people’s “bucket list” of temples in Siem Reap, so make sure that you don’t miss it.
It gets very crowded here, so keep reading our helpful Ta Prohm Temple Guide to know exactly when to come to avoid the large crowds.
