You are in THE fashionable neighborhood of San Sebastian! You can’t miss the historic center, that’s for sure, but you also have to come to this neighborhood to realize the great diversity of the city!

Here we see the Maria Cristina Bridge, the best known bridge in the city. Crossing the Urumea to connect the two parts of San Sebastian, it is named after Queen Marie-Christine of Austria who reigned in Spain at the end of the 19th century and helped to make the reputation of the city of San Sebastian by coming to spend all its summers there.

This small port with incomparable charm, located at the foot of Mount Urgull, consists of two pools, one reserved for pleasure boats, the other for fishing boats.

Here is an Attraction not to be missed! The San Sebastian Aquarium, built in 1928, is one of the symbols of the municipality, a city facing the sea from the creation of its port in the 11th century.

It is impossible to visit San Sebastian without passing by its unmissable Paseo Nuevo, the “New Path”, which was created in 1916.

This sculpture, located at the foot of Mount Urgull, whose name means “empty construction” in French, was designed by Jorge Oteiza, great Basque master who is responsible for several Spanish sculptures and buildings.

You have to climb a little to be able to make the most of Mount Urgull, one of the two mountains visible in San Sebastian. Needless to say, at the top you will enjoy a superb view of the city, the bay and Mount Igueldo.

You may know San Sebastian for its must-see event this September, the International Film Festival.

Here you are in front of the city’s flagship monument: the Mota Castle. A true symbol of San Sebastian, it was built at the beginning of the 12th century under the orders of the King of Navarre Sancho VII.

You are in the heart of the city! Constitution Square, located not far from the Basilica of St. Mary of the Choir and St. Vincent’s Church, is the real living place of the inhabitants: it is here that the festivities and activities of the city take place.

San Sebastian is one of the cities that can be described as the “capital of gastronomy”. Already, we know, Spain in general is famous for its famous tapas, the base of Spanish aperitifs!

On your right, located at the very beginning of Sarriegi Square, is a statue that refers to what is here called Tamborrada.

This beautiful theatre was inaugurated in 1912. Located on the banks of the Urumea River, a river that flows a few meters further into the Cantabrian Sea, it is a true symbol for the city of San Sebastian, which boasts of hosting the International Film Festival every year.

Here you have a nice view of the Urumea, the river that crosses San Sebastian and the buildings that border its other bank.

The large building that stands out from the others on your right is the city’s convention center. So, of course, when you look at it like this, you don’t necessarily find it attractive, but it is in fact an avant-garde building that even received the title of the most beautiful European building in 2001.

In the heart of the Gros district, this church was inaugurated in 1897, at a time when this part of San Sebastian is growing and beginning to welcome more and more inhabitants.

Here you are in front of the Cathedral of San Sebastian, dedicated to the Good Shepherd, one of the words of Jesus.
