Cusco
On Day 1, you will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 6:30 a.m. to begin the journey along the “Route of the Sun” toward the city of Puno. This scenic trip is done aboard a tourist bus with several cultural and archaeological stops. The route includes visits to the town of Oropesa, known for its traditional bread, followed by a stop in Andahuaylillas, where you will see the Church of San Pedro, often referred to as the “Sistine Chapel of America” due to its remarkable colonial artwork from the 16th century. Like many Spanish religious constructions of the time, it was built over an ancient Inca sacred site.

After exploring Raqchi, you will enjoy a buffet lunch in Sicuani before continuing to La Raya, the highest point between Cusco and Puno at 4,338 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views of the snowcapped Andes. The last stop of the day is Pukara, known for its monolithic sculptures, colorful ceramics, and pre-Inca cultural remains. The journey concludes with your arrival in Puno around 5:30 p.m., followed by transfer to your hotel for the night.
