Option to visit the 16th Century Jacobite urban battlefield of Dunkeld and explore the streets and even see the musket pot-market cathedral. Dunkeld is also a former religious capitol formed by St Columba. Now its a gateway to the Highlands with independent coffee shops, restaurants and shops situated in the historic buildings maintaining a real highland charm.

Option to visit this stretch of magical Perthshire forest was originally designed as a pleasure ground in the 18th century for the Dukes of Atholl. Douglas firs tower over the paths leading to the roaring Black Linn Falls, where the River Braan crashes down into the deep, foaming pools below. Overlooking the waterfall is the picturesque folly known as Ossian’s Hall, built in 1757 as the focal point in an extensive designed landscape. Decorated with mirrors, sliding panels and paintings, it has been refurbished to re-create the illusions of shock, surprise and amazement that were the aims of the folly’s original design. It makes a fine spot to contemplate the roaring, tumbling falls.

Option to descend to the Soldiers leap, where Donald McBane jumped a super human distance for his escape from the Jacobites in 1689, can you jump that far? A great wee walk through the trees to the majestic River Garry.

Option to stop at the Blair Athol Distillery where we can sample some whisky at the Mash Tun Bar, bottle your own rare whisky direct from the cask. If planning-to do a tour, this will need to be pre-booked and subject to availability.

Option to explore Pitlochry and the bustle of this Victorian Highland town, a great place for a spot of lunch or snack.
