Cité impériale de Hué (La Citadelle)
Hue Imperial City (also known as the Citadel or Đại Nội) was the political and administrative center of the Nguyen Dynasty—the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam. Located within the Complex of Hue Monuments, the Imperial City was constructed in the early 19th century under Emperor Gia Long and completed during the reign of Emperor Minh Mang. Surrounded by defensive walls and a moat, the citadel features grand, traditional royal architecture. Inside are important structures such as Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, and the Forbidden Purple City, which was the residence and workplace of the royal family. The site has been recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage since 1993.
