Grand Sphinx
Le Grand Sphinx de Gizeh (arabe : أبو الهول Abū al-Haul, anglais : The Terrifying One ; littéralement : Father of Terror), communément appelé le Sphinx, est une statue en calcaire d'un sphinx couché ou couché (une créature mythique avec un corps de lion et une tête humaine) qui se dresse sur le plateau de Gizeh sur la rive ouest du Nil à Gizeh, en Égypte. Le visage du Sphinx est généralement considéré comme représentant le visage du pharaon Khéphren. C'est la plus grande statue monolithique du monde, mesurant 73,5 mètres (241 pieds) de long, 19,3 mètres (63 pieds) de large et 20,22 m (66,34 pieds) de haut.

is nearly mocked today at many of the shops in Cairo’s Khan El Khalili market,
where poor quality souvenirs are hawked to unsuspecting tourists. The cheaply
made products may discourage many modern Cairenes from even considering this market
as a place to shop for gifts. However, a recent visit to Al Ghouri Papyrus Art
Centre proves that Khan El Khalili still has quality products that beautifully
represent Egyptian history and talent.
