Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx are some of the most iconic and enduring symbols of ancient Egypt, attracting millions of visitors from around the world. Located on the Giza Plateau, just outside of Cairo, these monumental structures were built during the Fourth Dynasty c. 2600–2500 BCE) as tombs for the pharaohs. Next to the pyramids stands the Great Sphinx of Giza, a colossal limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, traditionally believed to represent Khafre. The Sphinx is one of the largest and oldest statues in the world, Its exact purpose remains unclear, but it is generally thought to be a guardian figure, watching over the tombs and the burial grounds of the pharaohs. Over the centuries, the pyramids and the Sphinx have suffered from natural erosion, human interventions, and the ravages of time, but they remain awe-inspiring monuments to the technological, artistic, and religious achievements of ancient Egypt.

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which opened in stages starting in 2023, is designed to showcase more than 100,000 objects, many of which were previously stored in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. Its most notable feature is the collection of treasures from the tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun, including the iconic golden mask, royal jewelry, and other priceless items discovered by archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922. These treasures, along with many other relics, are displayed in a way that emphasizes their historical context and significance.
