Join the Ainu people of Nibutani on a walk through the iwor Forest and discover Authentic Ainu Culture, a journey of cultural transformation and resilience from the past to the present and into the future.
You will explore the iwor forest (Abetsu National Forest) with local Ainu guides including learning about the trees and other materials essential to Ainu life, as well as participating in a simulated traditional hunting experience. The guides will also introduce you their project aimed at restoring modern-day forestry areas back to the forests that existed over 150 years ago when the Ainu people used them as iwor.
