Nafpaktos, known as Lepanto during part of its history. It is a town and a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, situated on a bay on the north coast of the Gulf of Corinth, 3 km (2 mi) west of the mouth of the river Mornos. Its Medieval character, unspoiled charm, and laid-back style make it a popular destination for relaxing holidays! On a hill above Nafpaktos stands an imposing Medieval castle, a vestige of the Venetian rule. Later tour comes into a pretty resort along the Gulf of Corinth, little Galaxidi curves around a seafront hillock, with narrow cobblestone streets connecting the well-sheltered harbours to either side.
