Guzhang Red Stone Forest, a 4A-level tourist attraction, is located in Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, adjacent to the Youshui River and opposite Furong Town. It is China’s only red carbonate stone forest, a unique karst landscape on the Zhangjiajie-Fenghuang tourism route. Formed 450 million years ago in the Ordovician Period, it originated from ancient Yangtze Sea sediments. Through crustal movements, weathering and dissolution, iron-rich carbonate rocks formed red stone pillars (10–30 meters high) in various shapes, showing purplish-red in sunshine and brownish-red after rain, known as "the No.1 Marvel of Wuling". Covering 1.2 square kilometers, its key attractions include Ancient Yangtze Sea, Heavenly Pool and Dragon Gorge, with ancient marine fossils embedded in rocks.
