Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki is characterized by its layered preparation on a griddle: a thin crepe-like batter topped with cabbage, bean sprouts, pork, yakisoba noodles, and an egg. It's a hearty and nutritious local favorite in Hiroshima, cherished for generations. This dish originated after World War II when food was scarce. Hiroshima residents ingeniously created it using affordable ingredients to satisfy their hunger. More than just a meal, it offered hope to citizens striving for recovery from desperate circumstances.
