La première histoire emblématique est celle du Royal Flying Doctor Service, affectueusement surnommé RFDS dans toute l'Australie. Fondé par le révérend John Flynn, il a débuté ses opérations aéromédicales dans le Territoire du Nord en 1939. La deuxième histoire emblématique est celle du bombardement de Darwin le 19 février 1942. Le bombardement du port a détruit la ville de Darwin et a laissé de nombreuses expériences et anecdotes sur ce qui s'est passé ce jour-là.
