The tour leads you along the southern coast from Horta to the volcano of Capelinhos. At lunch time, we will have a rich picnic in one of the recreational parks of Faial. In the afternoon you will visit the Caldeira, see the lighthouse of Riberinha destroyed by an earthquake and then go to one of the best sandy beaches of the Azores.

This half day tour of about 3-4 hours, gives you a first impression of the major points of interest of the island. The tour is perfect for those who only stay a short time in Faial and do not want to miss anything. The tour leads you along the southern coast from Horta to the volcano of Capelinhos with a number of stops in between. On the way back we will take a minor road high above the villages. Depending on the weather conditions, you will either visit the Caldeira or some view points above Horta.

The specie we mostly see during our activity is the Blue Sharks and you will enjoy to swim with them at their own natural habitat or look at them from the boat. Blue Sharks are very curious and pass very close to the boat, spend long periods of time surface swimming, just floating at the surface or in the boat you will experience very close interactions with these beauties. A very friendly species and one of the most beautiful animal around. We also happen to see Mako sharks, the fastest shark of the Ocean ! Hiking around the Caldeira is an experience you should not miss out if you visit Faial. This collapsed volcanic cone is one of the main landmarks of Faial. With 2 km in diameter it is an impressive reminder of the force of nature. The trail around the perimeter is about 7 km long and can be done in two to three hours. The hike around the Caldeira is physically easy, but those suffering from vertigo might find a couple of well secured passages a bit of a challenge. This hike is only worthwhile to be done if the weather is clear and the wind is not too strong. You will be rewarded with stunning views of the neighboring islands and the untouched nature.

Hiking along the Levada, an abandoned water line, propels you into a completely different world. As if you were in the setting of Jurassic Park, just the Dinos are missing. The hike along the Levada can also be done if the weather is not perfect. The hike along the Levada is physically easy, but be ready to encounter some wet passages and pass through a short, but dark tunnel. The hike takes about 3 to 4 hours, due to the nature of the trail, the way back will be on the same route.
