Itinerary
1
Zhujiajiao Ancient Town
Walk through Old Town: Walk on stone-paved paths, see shops with wooden frames and gray-tiled roofs, and vendors selling rice dumplings (zongzi). Hear snack sellers calling out in local dialect. Feel the crowded narrow lanes and humid air near canals.
Dye Workshop (#275): At the studio, see indigo dye vats, cotton cloth, and textile process charts. Fold fabric, tie with rubber bands, and soak in dye for 3 minutes. Feel the rough cotton texture and smell the plant-based dye. Keep your self-made 30x30cm dyed cloth.
Walk to Boat Dock: See red lanterns hanging at shop doors and bridges crowded with tourists. Hear folk songs from tea houses and tapping sounds from bamboo craftsmen.
Night Boat Tour: On the wooden boat, see Ming-Qing style shops, Fangsheng Bridge, and red/green laser lights from Kezhi Garden. Hear splashing oars, the boatman’s local commentary (with simple English words), and recorded guzheng music. Feel the gentle rocking of the boat and cool, misty breeze at night.
