Trinity Episcopal Church
Trinity Episcopal Church is a historic and active church known for its Gothic Revival architecture and significant role in local history. It is the oldest church in Staunton, founded in 1746 as Augusta Parish.
A major artistic treasure is its extensive collection of stained-glass windows, including a dozen from Louis Comfort Tiffany Studios, which span his 40-year career. The collection showcases five distinct styles of American church glass from the 1850s onward.
The Virginia General Assembly met there from June 7-23, 1781, after fleeing the British forces during the Revolutionary War.
The Neo-Gothic structure is complemented by a rectory (1872) and a Parish House (1874, the first in Virginia). The church also houses a modern Taylor & Boody pipe organ.
