Itinerary
1
Colle di Val d'Elsa
As you travel toward Volterra, the route passes near Colle di Val d'Elsa, historically known for its crystal craftsmanship and medieval upper town. Continuing along the scenic Volterrana road, enjoy sweeping views of rolling hills, cultivated fields, vineyards, and cypress-lined ridges that define the classic Tuscan landscape. This countryside drive offers a glimpse into the agricultural heart of the region before reaching the hilltop city of Volterra.
2
Volterra
Explore Volterra, one of Tuscany’s most fascinating hill towns, known for its Etruscan heritage and medieval atmosphere.
From the parking area, your driver tour escort will accompany you on a 30–45 minute introductory walk through the historic center, passing traditional alabaster workshops and artisan shops before reaching the main squares.
During the walk, you will stop at a local alabaster workshop where an artisan will give a short live carving demonstration, revealing techniques used in Volterra for centuries.
After the orientation, you will have time to explore independently. With about four hours in total, you may visit the Museo Etrusco Guarnacci, admire the Roman Theatre, enter the Duomo, or see Rosso Fiorentino’s Deposition in the Pinacoteca.
You will also have time for a relaxed lunch at a local restaurant or a traditional Tuscan sandwich while enjoying the town’s authentic atmosphere.

Monteriggioni
Visit Monteriggioni, one of Tuscany’s best-preserved medieval fortified villages. Built in the 13th century by the Republic of Siena as a defensive outpost against Florence, the town is still encircled by its original stone walls and towers. Enjoy a short walk through the main square and admire panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.
