Itinerary
1
Wat Sisaket
Wat Sisaket
The oldest surviving temple in Vientiane, famous for its thousands of Buddhist sculptures and unique Thai–Lao architectural style.
30 minutes
2
Wat Ho Phra Keo
To help you attract more guests to your Vientiane tour, here is a professional and exciting description of the "Big Three" landmarks.
Discover Vientiane: The City of Sandalwood & Gold
Vientiane is one of the world's most tranquil capital cities, where French colonial charm meets ancient Buddhist traditions. This private tour takes you to the heart of Lao identity.
Hor Pra Keo: The Museum of the Emerald Buddha
The History: Originally built in 1565 as the royal family’s personal chapel, this temple once housed the legendary Emerald Buddha (now in Bangkok).
What You’ll See: Today, it serves as a premier museum of religious art. You will walk through hallways lined with bronze Buddha statues, ancient Khmer stone carvings, and intricate palm-leaf manuscripts.
The Detail: Don’t miss the lacquered doors carved with Hindu motifs and the lush, shaded gardens that offer a peaceful escape from the city streets.
30 minutes
3
Great Sacred Stupa (Pha That Luang)
Pha That Luang: The Golden Soul of Laos
The Icon: This massive, gold-covered stupa is the national symbol of Laos and its most sacred religious monument. Legend says it even houses a relic of the Buddha’s breastbone.
The Sight: Standing 44 meters tall, the stupa is a masterpiece of Lao architecture. You’ll be dazzled by the way the gold leaf reflects the tropical sun, surrounded by a high-walled cloister filled with ancient artifacts.
The Experience: Explore the surrounding grounds to find the massive reclining golden Buddha and the statue of King Setthathirath, the great monarch who moved the capital to Vientiane.
45 minutes
4
Patuxay Monument
Patuxai (Victory Monument): The Vertical Runway
The Architecture: Known as the "Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane," this massive archway commemorates those who fought for independence. Interestingly, it was built using cement donated by the USA that was originally intended for a new airport runway!
The Details: While it looks Parisian from a distance, the details are purely Lao. Look up at the ceilings to see intricate carvings of kinnari (mythological half-bird, half-woman figures) and Hindu gods like Brahma and Vishnu.
The View: We will climb the spiral staircase to the observation deck on the 7th floor, where you will be rewarded with the best panoramic view of Vientiane, the Presidential Palace, and the Mekong River.

COPE Visitor Centre
A visit to the COPE Visitor Centre is often described by travelers as the most meaningful and moving experience in Vientiane. Unlike the gold-covered temples, this center offers a deep, human look at the history of Laos and the resilience of its people.
Here is what your guests will see and do at this unique site:
The Experience: Understanding Resilience
The "Secret War" History: Travelers will learn about the "Secret War" (1964–1973), during which Laos became the most heavily bombed country in history per capita. The exhibits explain the ongoing challenge of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) that still affects rural farmers and children today.
Personal Stories: Through powerful photography and handwritten accounts, guests meet the survivors. These stories focus not just on tragedy, but on the incredible journey of "moving on" through rehabilitation.
