Wine Museum Koutsogiannopoulos
The Wine Museum in Santorini was created by a family with a winemaking tradition dating back to 1870. Built 8 meters underground in a natural cave, it took 21 years to complete. The museum tells the story of Santorini’s wine culture from the 1600s to the 20th century, showcasing authentic tools, presses, and scenes from vineyard life. It’s a journey through generations of passion and volcanic heritage.

Purpose: To protect the interests of local vine growers and preserve Santorini’s ancient viticulture, which dates back thousands of years.
Today, Santo Wines represents around 1,200 families of growers, making it the largest wine producer on the island.
Vineyards: Santorini’s volcanic soil and unique climate produce some of the world’s most distinctive wines, especially Assyrtiko, but also Aidani, Athiri, and the legendary Vinsanto.
Legacy: Santo Wines has played a central role in keeping Santorini’s wine traditions alive while also modernizing production. It has introduced Santorini wines to the global market, becoming a symbol of the island’s heritage.
