The Golden Gate is a building of exceptional architectural value, designed by the eminent architect Abraham van den Block and built by Hans Strakowski, a construction entrepreneur. The ideological message of the building, expressed in the form of inscriptions and allegorical sculptures, reflects the main aspirations of the city and the attitudes expected of its citizens.

The Great Armoury building - one of the most spectacular examples of Dutch Renaissance in Poland - constitutes a truly masterful finishing touch in the landscape of Piwna street and an important architectural landmark of the Coal Market area.

The Royal Way was the route along which the Polish kings traditionally paraded during their periodic visits.

St. Mary's Basilica is believed to be the largest brick church in the world. The interior vault supports 37 windows, over 300 tombstones and 31 chapels. It can hold up to 25,000 people, which was useful during the period of martial law between 1981 and 1983 when members of the Solidarity movement sought refuge here.

The Neptune Fountain is located in the most representative part of Gdańsk - on the Long Market, in front of the Artus Manor. Its creation was initiated by Mayor Bartłomiej Schachmann and the city council in 1633.

The Main City Hall, a spectacular building and the seat of the city authorities, is full of multicultural references. Its architectural form itself, at least its shape and the main decorative elements bear resemblance to the “Hanseatic House” (Osterlinghaus) in Bruges.

Just like the Neptune fountain, the Crane, a former port crane, is one of the most famous symbols of Gdańsk, especially if it comes to its maritime past and glory. Therefore, no other place is more suitable for an exhibition devoted to activities of the former Gdańsk port.
