Centro Historico de Sintra
Sintra's historic center belongs to UNESCO - World Heritage, having been classified as World Heritage, under the category 'Cultural Landscape' in 1995. With the earthquake of 1755, a large part of Vila Velha de Sintra needed to be rebuilt, following the old route that existed.
At the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, travelers, writers, aristocrats and burghers settled in and created a romantic atmosphere that is still felt today.
