Basilica Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor
You will get to visit , The cathedral of Santo Domingo, which is the oldest in America, built by mandate of Pope Julius II in 1504. Headquarters of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo, its construction began in 1512, under the pastoral government of the first bishop of Santo Domingo, Fray García Padilla , who never arrived on the island; based on plans by architect Alonso de Rodríguez.

During the colonial era of the fifteenth century, various buildings were carried out on the island of Hispaniola, which were the first colonial dwellings in the entire American continent. Within these residential constructions the Colón Park was created, which was called by the name of Plaza Mayor de Santo Domingo, which dates from 1506, and throughout the years it has undergone several modifications to the present day.
