Diakopto–Kalavryta railway
The Diakopto–Kalavryta Rack Railway is one of the most impressive and historic railway projects in Greece. Built in the late 19th century, it connects the coastal town of Diakopto with Kalavryta, passing through the spectacular Vouraikos Gorge.
During the journey, the train runs on a rack-and-pinion system, allowing a safe ascent along steep gradients, while passengers enjoy rare natural landscapes, rivers, waterfalls, and stone bridges.

In operation since 1896, it is considered a landmark of industrial heritage.
Its rack railway system is unique in Greece.
The route is approximately 22 km long and is regarded as one of the most scenic railway journeys in Europe.
