Isola di Mozia (Mothia)/ San Pantaleo
Marsala is a place that should be experienced unhurriedly. Discover its Baroque old town, its ancient salt pans to the island of Mozia. Its historic center is small and rather intimate and can be visited on foot in a couple of hours. Giuseppe Garibaldi and the Thousand passed through Porta Garibaldi, which along with Porta Nuova, are the two historic gates still visible in the city. Within the oriented nature reserve of the salt pans of Trapani and Paceco, managed by the WWF, which is responsible for the protection of pink flamingos, is the Salt Museum, which allows visitors to discover the world of salt farming. The lagoon, known as the Stagnone, is also a nature reserve where archaeology, history, nature and trades meet. The shallow waters are punctuated by salt pans with their mills and a composition of four small islands: San Pantaleo (the ancient and modern-day Mozia), Isola Lunga or Grande, Scola and Santa Maria. In Mozia take the visit of the Whitacker Museum.
