Ksar Ghilane
Ksar Ghilane, the southernmost of Tunisia's oases, is a gateway to the Tunisian Sahara Desert and a popular destination for quad and camel rides.
This oasis is fed by a hot spring, which comes from a failed oil drilling in 1953. Instead of finding oil, the drillers discovered a confined water table about 700 meters deep.
The water gushes to the surface at a temperature of about 32°C and has sulfurous properties. It is suitable for swimming and is renowned for its thermal properties.
Ksar Ghilane is home to about fifty nomadic families who live from date palm cultivation and goat and sheep breeding. It is a place where you can discover the traditional way of life of Saharan nomads. You will have the opportunity to take a camel ride (15€/h) or a quad bike ride (30€/h) to the Roman fort of Tisavar, adding a touch of adventure to your experience.
