1
Kaymakli Underground City
Kaymaklı Underground City is one of the largest and most fascinating subterranean settlements in Cappadocia. Dating back to the Hittite period and expanded during the Byzantine era, this multi-level city was used as a refuge during times of invasion. Visitors can explore narrow tunnels, ventilation shafts, kitchens, wine cellars, storage rooms, and communal living areas. The ingenious architectural design demonstrates how ancient civilizations adapted to survive underground for extended periods.
1 hour and 30 minutes
2
Soganli Valley
Soğanlı Valley is a peaceful and less-crowded region of Cappadocia, renowned for its natural beauty and rock-cut churches. The valley has been inhabited since Roman times and became an important monastic center during the Byzantine period. Visitors can admire frescoed churches carved into the soft volcanic rock, such as the Karabaş and Yılanlı Churches, and enjoy scenic walking paths surrounded by fairy chimneys, pigeon houses, and traditional village life.

3
Sobesos Ancient City
Discovered in 2002, Sobessos Ancient City is a relatively recent archaeological find from the Roman and Early Byzantine periods. The site is particularly notable for its well-preserved mosaic floors depicting geometric patterns and daily life scenes. Excavations have revealed a bath complex, administrative buildings, and residential areas, providing a glimpse into the social and cultural life of a provincial Roman settlement in Cappadocia.

4
Keslik Monastery
Keşlik Monastery is one of Cappadocia’s most significant early Christian monastic complexes, dating back to the Byzantine era. Carved entirely into the rock, the monastery includes chapels, living quarters, refectories, and water channels. Many of its frescoes were intentionally covered with soot to protect them during periods of persecution and have been remarkably preserved. The site offers valuable insight into early Christian monastic life and religious art.

Mustafapasa
Mustafapaşa, formerly known as Sinasos, is a charming historic village that reflects Cappadocia’s multicultural past. Once home to a wealthy Greek Orthodox community, the village is famous for its beautifully preserved stone mansions adorned with fine carvings and frescoes. Visitors can stroll through cobblestone streets, visit old churches, and experience the authentic atmosphere of traditional Cappadocian village life combined with Greek and Ottoman architectural influences.

Ortahisar Kalesi
Ortahisar Castle is one of the most impressive natural fortresses in Cappadocia, rising dramatically from the center of Ortahisar village. Carved into a massive rock formation, the castle was historically used as a defensive stronghold and residential area. From the panoramic viewpoint, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, fairy chimneys, and traditional stone houses. The area is also known for its authentic local atmosphere, with nearby cave storage rooms once used to preserve fruits and vegetables, reflecting the region’s traditional way of life.
