In Caltagirone you will visit the ancient Cal’at Ghiran, or the Castello dei Vasi, a name that underlines the centrality of ceramics and majolica production typical of Caltagirone.
A tour of the historic center will make you appreciate the beauty of buildings and monuments such as: Palazzo Gravina, the Norman basilica of San Giacomo, the cathedral of San Giuliano, Corte Capitaniale, Tondo Vecchio, to culminate with the spectacular staircase of Santa Maria del Monte composed of 142 steps covered by majolica that connect the upper part to the lower part of the city.
