Located on the summit of Monte Pellegrino, about 400 meters above sea level, the sanctuary is a sacred place and symbol of Palermo devotion. It is accessed through a suggestive staircase that leads to a facade set in the rock, just above the cave where the relics of Santa Rosalia were found in 1624. The saint became the patron saint of Palermo after her relics were carried in procession, ending a devastating plague epidemic. Every year, thousands of pilgrims face the traditional "Acchianata", a climb on foot that represents a rite of faith and gratitude towards the "Santuzza".

Piazza Marina
Piazza Marina is one of the most charming squares in Palermo, located in the heart of the Kalsa district, near the port. Rich in vegetation and surrounded by historic buildings, such as Palazzo Chiaramonte-Steri, once the seat of the Spanish Inquisition, now a museum and seat of the Rectorate of the University of Palermo. The square is famous for the Garibaldi Garden, a green oasis characterized by imposing ficus magnolioides trees, among the largest in Europe. In addition to its natural and architectural beauty, Piazza Marina is a lively place, surrounded by restaurants, cafes and markets, including the popular Sunday antique market. It is a must for those visiting Palermo, both for its history and for its unique charm.

Mercato di Ballaro
We will take you to discover one of the oldest markets in the city, where you can walk among brightly colored stalls, full of juicy fruit, fresh meats and fragrant spices, expression of the wealth of our land. A veritable riot of intense colours and scents, made even more authentic by the characteristic “abbanniata” – the loud and full of energy voices of merchants – that animate the market with their appeal, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere. This place is perfect to enjoy the famous Palermo street food. You can enjoy a crispy arancina, savor boiled octopus and enjoy a sandwich with panelle or spleen. Guests can also take advantage of the barbecues where local specialities are roasted, giving off irresistible scents.

Cattedrale di Palermo
The Cathedral of Palermo is the most imposing church in Sicily and one of the most significant examples of Arab-Norman architecture. Originally built as a place of Christian worship, it was transformed into a mosque during Arab rule, in 831, and then returned to Christianity with the arrival of the Normans. Inside, the tombs of Norman rulers are preserved, admission to the cathedral is free, while there is a ticket to access the crypts, mausoleums and rooftops, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city. This is the last stop of our tour, but your journey to discover Palermo can continue on foot along Via Vittorio Emanuele, crossing a pedestrian area full of charm. Continuing on this historic street, you will reach the picturesque Quattro Canti, the splendid Piazza Pretoria with its iconic fountain and, just ahead, the wonderful Arab-Norman churches of Piazza Bellini, authentic jewels of architecture.
