The North Shore Private Historical Tour is designed to showcase all that Prince Edward Island’s north shore has to offer, beginning with an exploration of the historic city of Charlottetown, its landmarks and heritage sites, including Great George Street, St.. Dunstan’s Basilica, and Province House (the birthplace of Confederation). As we drive into the countryside, we enter the beautiful north shore where you will view wonderful seascapes and vistas, including lighthouses, red cliffs, sand dunes, north shore beaches, mussel farms and fishing villages. There will be ample stops along the way to explore PEI’s national park and to take pictures.

This tour begins in the Historic city of Charlottetown, the capitol of Prince Edward Island, and a stop at St. Dunstan’s Basilica. The church is open daily to visitors and the beautiful gothic interior is a must to see. 20 minute stop

Province House National Historic Site
Unfortunately, Province House is closed for restoration but your guide will make a brief stop to explain the significance of this heritage building to the birth of this great country, Canada.

Grand Tracadie
Mussel and oyster farm. Here your guide will give a brief explanation of how mussels and oysters are grown in the wild. 10 minute stop

Covehead Harbour Lighthouse
Next, we will drive through the National Park of Dalvay, Stanhope, and Brackley beaches to Covehead Harbour and stop at the Covehead Light House. You will have an opportunity to walk on the sandy beach and, if so inclined, dip your toes in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. 30 minute stop
After leaving this section of the National Park, we will make a stop at the Dunes Craft Shop. Here you can find pottery, art, clothing, beautiful gardens and lovely water features.

Cavendish Beach
We will now re-enter the National Park at Cavendish Beach to view the red cliffs of this area and make a stop at the bluffs (a perfect picture taking spot).

North Rustico
A short drives take us to the Acadian village of North Rustico, a working fishing harbor. Here you can see the lobster boats coming and going, ad your guide will have demonstration of how lobsters are trapped. 25 minute stop.

Cavendish
We will now re-enter the National Park at Cavendish Beach to view the red cliffs of this area and make a stop at the bluffs (a perfect picture taking spot).

Anne of Green Gables Museum
Next is a photo shop at the Anne of Green Gables house . This area of Cavendish is the inspiration of the Anne of Green Gables house novels written by local author, Lucy Maude Montgomery. 15 minute stop

New Glasgow
A short drive takes us to the Island Preserve Company located on the River Clyde in Glasgow . Here you can watch delicious jams being made.

Charlottetown
We will return to Charlottetown through the beautiful rolling hills of New Glasgow. There are plenty of opportunities to stoop for pictures of this beautiful area. Just let your guide know if you wish to stop. Time remaining will be allotted to travel time.
