This sanctuary, often called the ‘lungs of the Mediterranean,’ is also home to a rare fish that changes its gender. Miracles seem to belong here: historical records tell how local villagers once rescued sailors from a warship just off the Petrovac coast. Even today, people believe the small islands of Sveta Nedelja and Katič watch over those at sea. As you cruise by boat, you’ll marvel at the beauty of two islands and two caves—one of them the legendary Cave of Wishes. Petrovac Quay
By boat, we sail to the picturesque island, where we’ll take a 15‑minute break to explore its charming little chapel. According to legend, miracles once saved sailors just off the coast of Petrovac, and even today, locals believe that the tiny islands of Sveta Nedelja and Katič offer protection to those at sea.
The story goes that the small church on Sveta Nedelja was built by shipwrecked sailors in gratitude for their survival. Climbing the stone steps to the chapel rewards visitors with breathtaking views of the nearby island of Katič and the sparkling Adriatic.

Petrovac Quay
Across from Petrovac’s main beach, just over a kilometer offshore, lies a ‘mountain in the sea.’ The cliffs and rock formations around Petrovac are truly spectacular, and among these masterpieces of nature you’ll find the Cave of Wishes. Located between the town beach and Lučice, it is one of the area’s hidden gems.
From a distance, the cave resembles the symbol of infinity, but as you approach by boat you’ll see the rocks perfectly intertwined at the entrance. Make a wish… it costs nothing, and who knows—miracles do happen.
