Jvari Monastery is a 6th-century Georgian Orthodox church located on a hilltop overlooking the town of Mtskheta. Its name means “Monastery of the Cross,” as it was built on the site where Saint Nino erected a wooden cross to mark Georgia’s conversion to Christianity.
