Shikaumi Shrine
Step into the grounds of Shikaumi Shrine, a sacred shrine dedicated to the gods of the sea. The priest will guide you around the shrine, teaching about the different customs and the shrine’s history.
After, you will be led to the Great Hall - a space typically off-limits - where a special morning prayer ceremony will take place. Listen to the sounds of the drum and the chanting of the priest in this stirring experience.
After the ceremony, watch as the sky brightens with morning light from the shrine’s extraordinary viewpoint that overlooks the sea. This is a unique opportunity to connect with oneself and soak in the refreshing atmosphere as dawn breaks over the water below. As this is an early morning program, we recommend staying overnight in the Shikanoshima/Saitozaki areas.
