Miyagino Meiji Village History Museum
Morning — Meiji Mura (明治村): Japan’s “time machine”
Meiji Mura isn’t a normal museum. It’s a full village built from real historical buildings that were saved from destruction and moved here. You’ll literally walk through the moment Japan changed forever: the Meiji era (1868–1912), when the country rapidly modernized, opened to the world, and merged Japanese traditions with Western influences.
I’ll guide you through the most iconic spots and explain:
why the Meiji era was a turning point in Japanese history
how architecture reflects politics, identity, and modernization
This spot is very hard to go without car so we will do the village together and go straight to Inuyama Castle right after !
Admission fees 2500 yen

Inuyama Castle
Afternoon — Inuyama (犬山): old town + one of Japan’s oldest original castles
After Meiji Mura, we’ll head to Inuyama, a beautiful castle town with a traditional atmosphere.
The highlight is Inuyama Castle (犬山城) — a rare treasure. It’s considered one of the few original castles in Japan that were never destroyed, meaning the main keep you climb today is authentic, dating back to Japan’s feudal period. You’ll feel it immediately: steep wooden stairs, defensive design, and a view from the top that still looks like a samurai-era landscape. Then we’ll walk through Inuyama’s old streets, enjoy the local vibe, and I’ll share the best spots depending on your interests (history, photography, snacks, river scenery). Inuyama castle entrance fees 500YEN
