Mayura Water Palace
Originally constructed in 1744 during the reign of a Balinese ruler who had authority over Lombok.
Original Use The palace functioned as royal gardens and palace grounds (including gardens / ponds), and also served for meetings, court gatherings, and judicial proceedings. Key feature: Bale Kambang (a floating pavilion) in the artificial lake.
Cultural Significance It blends Balinese Hindu influences (from the time of Bali’s rule) with local Lombok culture. It includes temples and was a royal center. There was also a battle here in 1894 between the Dutch and Balinese forces.
Current Use It’s now a public park / heritage site. Visitors come for the gardens, the pond, the pavilion, temple visits, and to appreciate its history
