About
Experience the unique "Sōsen Aogi," a fan-making plan at the long-established Shimizu Shoten in Kyoto, which is celebrating its 78th anniversary. The "Sōsen Aogi" is a new type of origami fan that does not use fan ribs, making it extremely popular. This mini-sized fan can easily fit into a pocket.
Our company is one of the few that manufacture this unique shape of fan, which is available exclusively through us and Rekiseisha in Hiroshima, meaning there are only two companies in Japan offering it.
After enjoying the freedom to add your owndecorations like foil stamping , you will finish the fan with your own hands and take home your creation.
Additionally, you'll start with a workshop tour...

Factory Tour and Fan-Making Experience Experience the unique art of kyoto fan-making at our workshop, where we handle every step of the fan-making process under one roof. Unlike most factories that operate on a division of labor, our facility is a rare gem where you can observe the entire process of crafting fans, from cutting and folding the special paper known as jigami to the final touches called tsuke.
Creating a design pattern We'll create a draft design that will guide the fan's final look.
Painting Follow your design to paint your fan. Don’t worry if you’re not an artist; you can achieve a beautiful finish by applying gold leaf.
