Itinerary
1
Shimanto River
The tour begins at the Kubokawa train station where you will meet your guide. Together you will board a single car train and pass through the tunnels and valleys of rural Kochi until you arrive at Towa town. A brief walk through this historic mountain town will bring you to the activity center where you will start your bike ride. While riding leisurely along the river-side, you will see the traditional ways of life of the mountains and valleys.
2
Shimanto-cho
After a short ride you will come to a blacksmith’s workshop. Here you will meet the artisan himself and hear how he is carrying on the traditions of his craft. Ask as many questions as you want and learn about this fascinating art-form and the history of the Shimanto valley.
3
Shimanto River
A short bike ride will bring you back to the activity center where you will have lunch at a local restaurant.
Now it is time for a thrilling rafting ride down the river! The Shimanto river is calmer than many rafting destinations, so even beginners can enjoy this fun activity. You can stay in the raft, but if you feel brave you can jump from a cliff or get out of the raft and float down the calmer sections of the river. Either way, make sure to bring a change of clothes, because you will definitely get wet!
