The Howard Carter House, located in Luxor, Egypt, is the former residence of British archaeologist Howard Carter, who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun . Originally used as a resthouse for inspectors, the house was converted into a museum in 2009 . The house has recently undergone renovation and restoration to repair structural damage, remove inappropriate repairs and alterations, and develop new visitor information . The exterior of the building has been restored to its original brown color, and new seating and shade areas have been installed . Inside, new lighting and object vitrines have been installed, and Carter's study has been restored to its original appearance . The house contains maps, old books, writings by Carter, antique furniture, and a replica of Tutankhamun's tomb . It is a popular tourist site in Luxor .
