"Kabbalah" is the mysterious and historically secretive side of Judaism. For millennia little information was available to the public regarding these ideas. In the 16th century, the city of Zefat/Safed became the known as capital of these teachings. Many known Kabbalists taught here. Amongst those that have significant sites include, Rabbi Moshe Cordivero, The "Alkabetz", The Holy Ari "Isaac Luria".
In addition to Kabbalistic tradition, the city of Zefat/Safed was home to the author of the most authoritative book on Jewish Religious law, the "Shulchan Aruch", by Rabbi Yosef Cairo.
