Itinerary
1
War Remnants Museum
War Remnants Museum.
This powerful museum offers one of the most comprehensive and unfiltered looks at the Vietnam War, featuring multi-level exhibitions, historic photographs, and detailed accounts that provide context to the city’s modern identity. Inside, you’ll walk through curated rooms that combine documentation, surviving artifacts, and striking visuals that capture Vietnam’s complex wartime history. Outside, the museum’s courtyard showcases decommissioned military vehicles — including attack aircraft, tanks, and artillery — offering visitors a vivid, real-world frame of reference. The museum is impactful, reflective, and essential for anyone trying to understand the roots of modern-day Vietnam. Tickets are required but not included

2
The Independence Palace
Independence Palace.
A landmark deeply tied to Vietnam’s modern history, the Independence Palace is preserved almost exactly as it was during the final moments of the Vietnam War. Its 1960s architecture, command bunkers, communication rooms, and reception halls reveal how political and military life functioned during the era. Walking through its corridors feels like stepping into a time capsule, from the presidential offices and elegant staterooms to the rooftop helipad and hidden underground strategic rooms. The palace grounds are spacious, beautifully maintained, and offer great photo opportunities with the iconic façade and surrounding gardens.
1 hour
3
Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon
Notre-Dame Cathedral & Saigon Central Post Office.
These two neighboring landmarks perfectly capture the city’s French colonial heritage. The Notre-Dame Cathedral, built with imported French bricks and materials, stands as an architectural centerpiece of Old Saigon. While the cathedral’s interior is currently under restoration, its exterior remains a top photo spot thanks to its twin bell towers and striking neo-Romanesque design. Just across the square is the historic Central Post Office, designed by Gustave Eiffel. Inside you’ll find a beautifully preserved curved-ceiling hall with vintage phone booths, original maps, local artisan stalls, and a charmingly nostalgic atmosphere. Together, these two stops offer a gentle contrast to the city's fast-moving energy and modern skyline.
1 hour
4
Ben Thanh Market
Ben Thanh Market.
One of Ho Chi Minh City’s most recognizable symbols, Ben Thanh Market is the perfect place to get a snapshot of local daily life. The market buzzes with vendors selling handicrafts, souvenirs, textiles, fresh produce, spices, coffee, and street food. Short, curated visits work best, giving travelers time to browse, take photos, and absorb the vibrant atmosphere without getting overwhelmed by the maze-like layout. It’s also an excellent place to see how both locals and travelers converge in one of the city’s busiest commercial landmarks.
30 minutes
5
Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theater)
Saigon Opera House & Ho Chi Minh City Hall.
Located in the heart of District 1, these two French-era buildings provide some of the finest architecture in the city. The Opera House features elegant Beaux-Arts design, intricate sculptures, and a beautifully maintained façade, while the nearby City Hall shines as one of the city’s most photographed structures, especially at night when its yellow façade glows warmly. This short stop gives travelers a visual contrast between colonial-era Saigon and the fast-paced modern metropolis surrounding it, making it ideal for elevated photography and a quick walk around the square.
