Auvers-sur-Oise
Departure from Paris towards the charming village of Au-vers sur Oise (1 hour long ride) This is where the Dutch Master ended his life. Vincent Van Gogh after his period in Provence wanted to get closer to his brother Theo living in Paris. Auvers sur oise combined calm & proximity to Paris.
Vincent spent his last days there (70). After a hopeful period, his old demons came back to antagonize him.
Your speaker will tell you about Vincent's life in Auvers. You will visit his room at the Auberge Ravoux where he died.
You will cross the village and walk in the footsteps of Vincent. You will recognize several places painted by Vincent.
The visit will end at the village cemetery where Vincent and his brother Theo are buried.
Vincent died when he was only 37. Just one painting had been sold during his lifetime.
